Thoughts as I write my statement
Watching the news is depressing. These past months seemingly more than ever, our media is overtaken by killings, racial tension, global conflict, climate change, the list goes on. For a person who cares about the world the question will arise: what should I do? How can I contribute to human flourishing? How do I expand my ability to create impactful change?
Why did I want to study both liberal arts and engineering? I wanted to be able to understand the societal and systemic underpinnings of the problems I wanted to address, like understanding the history of our modern healthcare system, and how it’s really currently structured as disease care, and how can I be part of that change. Liberal arts was my means of discovery, and engineering is my means of action.
Where does my skillset lie? Trifecta – desire to learn, amazing communication & presentation skills, builder mentality. Build quick prototypes to test ideas. I love learning, and embrace each challenge with enthusiasm, grit, and a mission driven perseverance to solve tough challenges.
I don’t have a perfect track record, but what my past does show is that I can learn exponentially, I love learning, and embrace each challenge with enthusiasm, grit, and a mission driven perseverance to solve tough challenges.
